From farm shop to farm shop
By bike or on foot.
More than a thousand feathered ladies from the Stemberger organic farm in St. Veit in East Tyrol provide locals and guests with fresh eggs. At the Stembergers, they are well looked after because they know how organic farming works. The farm shop also sells products from their own dairy and butcher's shop.
The Lumperer organic farm in Fritzens impresses with its huge organic variety and fresh, regional produce. The farm shop sells vegetables (including numerous rare species), herbs and specialities such as garlic paste and tomato purée - all grown using strictly organic methods. One of Tyrol's most unusual culinary specialities is regularly served as part of the nimmPlatz event.
Regional vegetables, bread and cheese are part of the standard range of a good farm shop. In the Inzing farm shop between Innsbruck and Telfs, however, the local butcher also sells his bacon dumplings. Also available: Honey, schnapps and a proper meat and cheese sandwich at the shop snack bar.
In Kufstein, they don't waste any time. Cheese, eggs, juices and wine go straight from the farmer to the shop without any detours. The selection of regional delicacies in the Niederndorf farm shop is huge. It's your own fault if you turn up hungry. Then you can order a platter of sandwiches right away.
The eggs, meat and dairy products in Maria's farm shop come from the Angererhof farm in Bad Häring. Maria also looks for quality when she selects delicacies from neighbouring farms for her shop. You can also choose products for a farmer's basket here. "A nice gift idea."
The Ausserferner farm shop in Reutte is a farm shop and even more. Here you can enjoy a regional breakfast and cake. If you miss the opening hours, you can still get meat and dairy products from "Blechbutler Toni". It is a 24/7 grocery vending machine.
What is produced regionally does not always have to taste good. It can also be practical and beautiful to look at. In the Dorfladele in East Tyrol's Vilgraten Valley, you can buy regional food and regional crafts: glasses, brooms, lamps and clothing, including an insight into East Tyrolean culture.
You can find all kinds of handmade things at the Wildschönauer Bauernladl in Oberau. Soaps, ceramics, wooden bowls and handicrafts make wonderful gifts. Of course, you can also buy food from regional farmers here. But you'd probably rather give bacon, smoked sausages and alpine cheese to yourself, right?
In Leutasch, it was recognised very early on that regional food is healthy for people and the climate. The Leutasch farm shop has been supplying locals and guests with products from local farmers since 1996. Here you can also find the odd handicraft item to give as a gift.
Fruit farmer Regula Imhof lives for organically produced food. Together with other producers, she offers organic fruit, vegetables, dairy products, juices and honey in the farm shop in Natters. She is also committed to providing information about ecological sustainability.
Everything comes together in East Tyrol. More than 80 suppliers provide the Virgen farm shop with regional products. This includes food, some already processed and frozen, oils and gift items. It is unlikely that they will leave the shop empty-handed.
Whether Tyrolean bacon, cheese or handmade Swiss stone pine baubles, in the Tyrolean valley shops you will find traditional products to enjoy yourself or as a souvenir to take home. Farm shops are usually located directly on the farm or in the village centre. They offer regional and sustainably produced organic food. In some farm shops you can also sample food directly and buy high-quality handicrafts.
Valley shops are farm shops where you can buy fresh produce from the region. They are often run by associations of several regional farmers who sell their fruit, vegetables, organic meat and dairy products there. Valley shops often also offer specialities from the region, such as typical Tyrolean dishes or Tyrolean handicrafts.
