Description

Tyrolean cuisine interpreted in a contemporary way
In May 2016, the Blumschein family took over the inn and hotel Post in the center of St. Johann, Tyrol. With great sensitivity, they transformed the newly adapted historical building, over 721 years old, into a gathering place with heart and soul for both holidaymakers and locals. Following the motto "We bring joy to people," the entire Post team, led by hosts Sigrid and Maximilian Blumschein, lovingly cares for the guests.

Secret ingredients: passion and innovation
The inn Post is characterized by authentic Tyrolean dishes that are interpreted in a contemporary way. Benjamin Leitner belongs to the young - "wild" - generation of chefs who understand how to enliven traditional inn cuisine with modern accents. The menu ranges from traditional classics like Grandma Resi's potato pancakes and beef goulash from Brunnhof in St. Johann to innovative creations like Tyrolean surf & turf (a curry beef sausage with trout fillet and fries). Depending on the season, the regional dishes are complemented by seasonal specialties. The inn is a member of the KochArt association. This collective from the Kitzbüheler Alps focuses on using local quality products. Special attention is also paid to rediscovering forgotten specialties of regional and Austrian cuisine. Gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan dishes are also offered.

Awarded inn with a toque
The four charming Tyrolean stüberl of the inn Post radiate a pleasant warmth with their Swiss pine wood. The attention to detail reflected in the culinary offerings and the furnishings, as well as the warmth of the entire Post team, make the inn a pleasant place to linger. Through personal recommendations from the sommelier and host of the house, Maximilian Blumschein, even discerning wine connoisseurs will find satisfaction. The efforts to modernize the classic inn approach are appreciated not only by the positive feedback from guests. In autumn 2018, Falstaff noticed the dynamic gastronomy family Blumschein and awarded the inn Post with a fork. In 2019, the inn received its first rating from Gault Millau. The inn achieved 12.5 out of 20 points in 2026, earning it another toque.
