Description

The ‘Alte Nessler Thaja’ offers an insight into the daily life on a Stanzertaler Alm. After the renovation, the alpine dairy room was furnished with tools and equipment so that the business operation – alpine dairy – could be resumed. The dining and sleeping rooms were also furnished in the same way as they were left in 1975.

Films about the Nessler Alm and its history are available to watch in the cheese and butter cellar on the Multimedia Station. In addition, there are books available that document the former life on the alpine pastures. Between 2014 and 2017, the Old Nessler Thaja was restored and opened to the public on the suggestion of the Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments.

An important topic for understanding the development of the alpine pasture economy in the Stanzertal is the ‘two-thirds court’ of Landeck. This original administrative system dates back to the 13th century, and is still practiced in its original form today in small areas. For this reason, the ‘two-thirds court’ of Landeck was included in the national register of ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage’ in 2017.
