Arrival by public transport
Take the S-Bahn to Matrei am Brenner and from there either walk or take the feeder service.
A scenic toboggan run above Matrei in the Wipptal. The clearings and forests around the Maria Waldrast Monastery, in particular, transform into a romantic snowy landscape in winter. After the climb up the access road, you can stop for a break at the Klosterstube.
The Maria Waldrast toboggan run runs almost parallel to the road and runs for approx. 3.2 km from the Maria Waldrast monastery inn to the toll booth at the beginning of the access road. The toboggan run is also illuminated daily in the evening until 11 pm. Sleds can be rented at the monastery inn for a small fee.
