If scary and mysterious figures suddenly appear in front of you in the forest, you are usually right to wonder whether the many meters of altitude and kilometers of running have gone to your head - but in the case of the Sagen(haften) Trail in Ötztal, your senses are not dulled.
The Sagen(hafte) Trail near Längenfeld in the Ötztal valley is varied, full of views, challenging and surprising. On more than 27 kilometers, the loop leads to interesting points such as the Pestkapelle, the Teufelskanzel or the Gottsgut. At the end, you walk along the legend trail back down into the valley, where many a gruesome figure tells you a lot about the legends of the Ötztal. The athletic component is by no means neglected, however, as there are over 2,200 meters of altitude to conquer. At the summit of the Hahlkogel, you reach the highest point at 2,609 meters and enjoy a fantastic view over the Ötztal Alps.
Please observe any trail closures. In the summer months, these paths are also heavily frequented by hikers and mountaineers, so mutual consideration is a matter of course.

Trail running shoes, rain jacket, provisions, and equipment for about 29 km route in high alpine terrain.
The start is at the Längenfeld sports ground, near the town center. From there you start over the Pestkapelle (Bichlkirche) towards the so-called "Devil's Pulpit" along the Duringsweg to Astlehn and further to the hamlet "Gottsgut." It continues over a rather challenging and steep trail to the Breitlehnalm (not managed). From there, a trail leads along the panoramic path to the Polltalalm and then further to the Hahlkogelhaus. From there it is not far but technically quite demanding to the summit of the Hahlkogel at 2,660 m. The same way leads back, then through the so-called "Polles" to the Pollesalm, from there further to the Alpine guesthouse at Feuerstein. Now on the folklore path, you encounter some eerie figures and get an insight into the legend world of the Ötztal before reaching the valley floor and taking the path south towards the start and end point, the Längenfeld Sports Center.
