Despite two ascents, the Sesslad winter hiking trail still leads comfortably to the lower Sessladalpe, a wonderful vantage point.
Medium-difficulty winter hike through the quiet, snow-covered mountain landscapes of the Paznaun Valley with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains. Typical alpine huts and reservoir ponds invite you to take a break, and the viewpoint at the lower Sessladalpe is particularly atmospheric. The tour is suitable for leisure hikers who want to experience peace and quiet and winter nature away from the pistes. Return on the same route.
The hike begins at the Diasbahn mountain station in Kappl. First, follow the Müllermahdlen winter hiking trail to Stertabach. From there, cross the snow bridge to the lower Sessladalpe, which is not managed in winter. The Sessladalpe lodge offers a beautiful viewpoint. If you wish, you can take a short detour around the upper reservoir before starting the main hike – it‘s definitely worth it, as benches invite you to relax.
With the railway station in Landeck, the Paznaun is optimally connected to the Austrian train network. From Landeck-Zams station, only a short bus ride separates you from the Paznaun. Every half hour, line bus 260 runs from there through the valley. Bus stop: Kappl Bergbahn
