Description

The tour starts at the Bergkastel mountain station and follows trail number 31 down to the Stieralm, which is perfect for a first break. Here you can enjoy the clear mountain air and let your gaze wander over the winter mountain landscape.

The tour continues across the extensive Plamort plateau. On the way, you will pass the Austrian-Italian border crossing as well as historic tank barriers and bunkers, which bear witness to times gone by and offer an exciting insight into the history of this region. The route then leads to the Plamort viewing rock, which offers a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding three-thousand-metre peaks and the Dreiländerbergwelt mountains — an ideal place for photos and a long break.

Finally, you return via Plamort to the Stieralm, where a cosy stop for refreshments rounds off the hike. The route then leads back to the Bergkastel mountain station, past snow-covered larch slopes and open snowfields. The route runs entirely on well-groomed winter hiking trails (trail 31) and offers a harmonious blend of nature, panoramic views and cultural and historical impressions.

The tour is a delight for sure-footed hikers: warm clothing, sturdy shoes with treaded soles and weatherproof equipment are recommended to enjoy the winter day to the fullest.
