Family holiday in Ötztal

It probably comes as a surprise that a region that is better known as high alpine sports terrain is ideal as a holiday destination for children. But the Ötztal can also offer family holidays. And how!

We recommend it because

  • the Ötztal with its numerous playgrounds, family-friendly themed trails and a treasure hunt at over 3,000 metres above sea level motivates children to go hiking in a playful way.
  • the warmest bathing lake in the Alps, the mild climate - which is why Oetz is also known as the "Merano of the North" - and the Ötzi village with its Stone Age experiences offer special variety for the whole family.
  • The Ötztal valley is a real playground for alpine sports, with the Area 47, rafting and the high ropes course offering plenty of fun for children and teenagers.

Mountain railways in this region

These lifts take families up the mountain in comfort in summer too. The Acherkogel cable car takes you directly to the Hochoetz hiking and Alpine pasture area and the "Widiversum" adventure playground. For MTB fanatics, around five mountain lifts offer bike transport. The "Schwarze Schneid" gondola lift takes you up to around 3,250 metres above sea level - where you are treated to a fantastic mountain panorama.
