Skiing in Maurach

Wonderful views and good skiing! Most of the slopes in Maurach are aimed at families and beginners, though experts will also find a number of more challenging pistes to push themselves.

The ski resort above the village of Maurach on the shores of Lake Achensee is proof that good things really do come in small packages. The ski area can be accessed quickly and easily using the Rofanseilbahn cable car whisking skiers and snowboarders up to 1,800 metres above sea level. Up at the top you will find five pistes catering for all abilities, from beginners to experts, as well as a practice area for beginners. There is also plenty of good off-piste ski touring in the Rofan Mountains. Food and drink is available at a number of huts and restaurants throughout the resort. The views of Lake Achensee, Tirol's largest lake, are wonderful. From Maurach you can also travel to the nearby resort of Pertisau (five kilometres away) on the other side of the lake, where there is another ski resort on the Zwölferkopf mountain. The Planberglift and Wiesenlift are two very small ski areas aimed at beginners.
