The Innsbruck Alpine Zoo is the highest zoo in Europe and exhibits over 150 native animal species from the Alpine region in natural enclosures. With its unique location, it offers spectacular views of the mountains and provides exciting insights into the Alpine animal world.
Situated on a sun-drenched terrace above Innsbruck, Europe’s highest zoo (750 m) features a unique collection of over 2,000 animals of 150 species indigenous to the Alps. Including an aquarium, terrariums, a farm with endangered domestic breeds, walk-in enclosures, Europe's largest golden eagle aviary, bears, wolves, otters, a play park and much, much more, the zoo offers a memorable experience for young and old!
Inclusion & accessibility at the Alpine Zoo
The Alpine Zoo is setting new standards in inclusion with its well-thought-out offerings for people with autism, dementia or limited mobility. Low-stimulus opening hours, special tours for guests with dementia, individual tours for blind and deaf people, free electric wheelchairs and the bear mobile for people with limited mobility are just some of the measures in place. The grounds are designed to be barrier-free and have a few slopes that can be easily negotiated with an electric wheelchair. In addition, children with disabilities and their families can enjoy exclusive hours away from the hustle and bustle at the ‘Dreamnight at the Zoo’ – free of charge and in a protected atmosphere.
