Attraction Historische Wasserräder

Hall in Tirol

West of the Hasegg Castle with the Münze Hall Museum and Münzerturm, there has been a new attraction since early summer 2019: The two waterwheels, built to a scale of 1:1 and each having a diameter of five meters, provided the first hydraulic drive for a coin minting machine starting in 1571. Even during the Renaissance, this allowed for the multiplication of coin quantities from the hammer minting era through roller minting. The roller minting machine was regarded as a technical sensation during the Middle Ages and was capable of minting around 4000 coins daily. In comparison, a coin minting journeyman could only manage about 300 coins per day.
