The MatschgerermuseumBetween 1985 and 1987, the Absam Matschgerer built a small but exquisite museum in the house at Stainerstraße 1 on their own initiative. The house, which is owned by the municipality of Absam, used to house the "Spritzenhaus," or fire station of the municipality. Today, it contains the clubroom where meetings, club evenings, and sessions are held, as well as the "Matschgerermuseum." About 200 masks (all made of wood, of course), from the oldest, approximately 200 years old, to the youngest, Matschgerer costumes, photos, old backpacks, pictures... basically everything related to the theme of Fasnacht can be viewed in the museum.Upon request, one can view and purchase the ORF film "Fasnachtsfieber in Absam." The museum is open between Easter and Advent every Sunday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. However, the museum remains closed in July and August.Of course, special tours for schools, other Fasnacht clubs, or simply interested groups are always possible. For such special tours, please contact the Prantner family at 0660 73144356 or 05223/57539.There is no admission fee for visiting the museum!
