Attraction Pfarrkirche St. Nikolaus

The parish church of St. Nicholas is one of the most significant buildings of the Haller old town. It was first consecrated in 1281 and has been expanded several times over the centuries. Around 1430, the current late Gothic hall church was built.

Description

The Haller Parish Church of St. Nikolaus was built before 1281 and has been expanded and redesigned several times over the centuries. Its distinctive church tower received a baroque onion dome after the earthquake of 1670, while the interior of the church was styled in the baroque manner in the 18th century. Particularly noteworthy are the magnificent ceiling frescoes by the court painter Adam Mölk, the high altar by Erasmus Quellinus, as well as the Waldauf Chapel with its significant statue of Mary from the circle of Michael Pacher.

Next to the parish church is the Magdalenen Chapel, a former cemetery chapel from the 14th century. It houses valuable medieval frescoes as well as a winged altar from around 1490, which originated from the former St. Magdalena monastery church in Halltal.
