On the trail of the devil, you can hike in the Devil's Alley. It is a real insider tip as a hiking destination that makes the hearts of explorers, both children and adults, beat faster. This legendary rock gorge on the Leerberg in Kirchdorf in Tirol captivates everyone.
The paid parking lot for the hike is located in the district of Hinterberg near Gasteig in Kirchdorf and is easily accessible by car. From here, the Teufelsgasse is marked.
At the beginning of the hike, you have an ascent of about 40 min along a forest road ahead of you. A small dirt path then leads to the rock gorges at the plateau of the Leerberg.
But what is it about the devil? According to legend, the devil himself carved the labyrinth-like passage into the rock to lead sinful people and their souls astray. Many of his poor victims carved their names into the soft rock walls in their utmost distress to inform their loved ones and friends of their fate. It is said that the attentive hiker can still feel the lost souls in the Teufelsgasse today and sometimes even hear their lamentations and cries.
