Top events at the start of winter

Depending on the Ski Resort, the winter opening events take place from the end of October right through to December. The exact dates can be found on the relevant event details page.

The Winter Openings take place in various Tirolean winter sports resorts, including Sölden, Neustift im Stubaital, St Leonhard im Pitztal, Hochgurgl, Ischgl, St Anton am Arlberg and Jerzens.

Winter opening events usually offer a varied programme: typical activities include concerts, parties and other incentives to mark the start of the season. There are also two FIS ski races where you can watch the professionals in action.

Yes, at several winter opening events there are test centres or ‘Testivals’. There, you can try out the latest ski and snowboard models from various brands and, in some cases, get advice directly from experts.  

Whether admission is free depends on the event in question. At many events, individual programme items such as concerts, side events or equipment trials are free of charge, whilst other offers require a valid mountain railway ticket or a separate ticket.
