Description

The Nördlinger Hütte (2,238m) is the highest refuge in the extensive Tyrolean Karwendel Mountains. The popular hiking destination is located directly on the Karwendel Höhenweg Trail in the Erlspitzgruppe above the Region Seefeld and was opened on 16 August 1898 (renovated in 1981).

Due to its exposed location on the ridge below the Reither Spitze (2,373m), the spacious alpine inn offers unique views of the surrounding Tyrolean mountains, fantastic sunsets and a breathtaking night sky. The family-run Alpine Club hut also offers an optimal starting point for Karwendel traverses lasting several days and various continuing summit tours.

The Nördlinger Hütte is only open during the warm summer months from June to the beginning of October and welcomes mountaineers and day guests on the expansive sun terrace with rustic home cooking and delicious regional hut specialities. Payment here is only possible with cash.

In the series “Almgeflüster & Hüttengeschichten”, you can find out why the life and work of mountain innkeepers in the mountains is much more than just a profession.

OVERNIGHT STAY
The charming refuge also offers overnight accommodation for a total of 60 people - with 30 room beds and 30 camp places. Pets are also welcome overnight on prior request to the landlord. Payment is only possible with cash upstairs, but there is also a small shop with any necessities (hygiene articles, first aid).

STARTING POINT
The highest refuge in the Karwendel can only be reached on foot. Depending on the starting point, mountain railways make the demanding ascent easier. Sufficient parking is available at the valley station of the Rosshütte cable car in Seefeld. It is also possible to travel by train to Seefeld or Reith.

SUMMER TOURS
For ambitious hikers there is an official stamping station at the hut and numerous continuing tours:

  • Karwendel Höhenweg. The first stage of the long-distance trail leads from Reith along the old Roman road to the Schartlehnerhaus (1856 m). From there the trail leads over the mountain pine ridge of the so-called "Schoaßgrat" up to the Nördlinger Hütte (2239 m). The second stage leads from the hut over the Ursprungsattel (2,087 m) and the Eppzirler Scharte (2,012 m) to the Solsteinhaus (1,806 m).
    To the hike
  • Königstour. Challenging circular hike from Seefelder Joch (2,064m, ascent possible via cable car from Seefeld) along a ridge to Seefelder Spitze (2,220m) and on to Reither Spitze (2,373m). A head for heights and surefootedness are absolutely necessary. From the Reither Spitze it is not far to the Nördlinger Hütte. Finally, over the Härmelekopf (2048m) via gondola to the Rosshütte and with the funicular back into the valley to Seefeld.
    To the hike
  • Summit tour up to Reither Spitze (2.374 m) from the Nördlinger Hütte hut
    To the hike
  • Eppzirler Alm. Moderately difficult hike over the Ursprungsattel (2,096m) to the Eppzirler Alm (1,459m).
