The starting point is right on the border, about 500 meters from the Hotel Peternhof. From there, the trail heads toward the Peternhof-Alm. Here, the trail takes a sharp turn back toward the border, and the final 2.5 km are in Germany, in the Birnbach district (Reit im Winkl).
