Description

The starting point of Route No. 472 is the Alpenrose-Stadelbach 1389 m junction, which is approx. 1.8 km after the Zillergrund toll booth. From here, follow the forest road through a tall spruce forest, which is closed to public traffic. After the fourth hairpin bend, you cross the Ahornbach stream, which plunges into the depths of the Zillergrund valley in spectacular style. In spring it is quite possible that the remains of avalanches can still be seen above and below the path. The last hairpin bends to the summit are tough all over again: where the gravel path leads to the crossing of Fellenberg stream with a slightly steeper gradient. The last few metres to the Almwirtschaft Alpenrose 1389 m, where a hearty snack awaits, then turn out to be surprisingly easy. Once you reach the top, you can look forward to savouring the magnificent view over Mayrhofen. For the return journey, you can freewheel back down the same route in a more relaxed and faster manner.
