Mountainbike-Tour 476 Horberg-Penken-Circuit

Enjoyable circular route in the midst dreamlike mountain worlds!  

Description

Penkenbahn cable car top station is the starting point for Route No. 476. From there, head along a gravel path past the Restaurant Pilzbar 1800 m in the direction of Penkenberg. After around 500 m, turn right and follow the road towards the forest – please watch out for hikers along this section. Several winding bends lead you to Gschößberg, from where the route leads down to Hochleger Stockach. Follow the road until you reach Mittertrettalm 1721 m and continue downhill. This provides a welcome opportunity to catch your breath, before heading back up to the Tappenalm 1714 m at the bottom of the valley after crossing Horbergbach Stream. A few metres before Tappenalm 1714 m, the trail leads off to the right towards the Horbergbahn cable car. From here, it is a rather more challenging uphill ride, until you are able to roll down the last few metres back to the Penkenbahn cable car. At the end of the route, surrounding restaurants invite you to take a break for refreshments. You can also ride this route in the opposite direction!
