Hut hike Hut hike in Tux: Höllensteinhütte - Grieralm

 Wonderful hike in the middle of the Tuxer Alpenhauptkamm to a natural paradise!

Description

Start from Tux-Lanersbach, at an elevation of 1,300 m. First follow the forest road until a lovely old footpath crosses it. Take it as it meanders up through the forest, until you have a clear view of the Junsberg, Madseitberg and Grübelspitze peaks. Altogether, the hike to the Höllensteinhütte (1,710 m) takes about 1 1/2 hours. You pass the Höllensteinhütte and come to Tapeneck, a peak at 1,830 m. In the distance you can see the Grieralm Lake sparkling in the sun, and soon thereafter the Grieralm comes into view. From the Grieralm (1,787 m) a well laid out trail over Tulferalm (1,700 m) takes you down to Madseit. That's a vertical drop of only 300 m with a magnificent view of the valley floor set against fantastic mountains.
