Wonderful hike in the middle of the Tuxer Alpenhauptkamm to a natural paradise!
The hike starts in Tux-Lanersbach, at 1,300 m above sea level. At first, the route follows the forest road (Trail No. 28) for a short distance, but soon a beautiful old mule trail crosses the path and winds its way up through the forest until the view opens up and the Junsberg, the Madseitberg, and the Grüblspitze come into view. The entire hike to the Höllensteinhütte (1,740 m) takes about 1 1/2 hours. The trail then continues through the forest up to the Tapeneck (1,830 m). The Grierlacke glistens in the distance, and soon the Grieralm comes into view. The beautiful rooms at the rustic Grieralm and the hand-carved eagle chairs invite you to linger. From the Grieralm, a well-marked, narrow trail (No. 22) leads via the Tulferalm (1,700 m) down to Madseit.
On foot from the Tux-Center parking lot: Pass the gravel parking lot and, after crossing the bridge near the tennis court at house no. 394, take the steep ascent to houses 508/507/504; or walk from the parking lot to the main road, then take the sidewalk to the left until you reach the Enterwald Bridge, across from the Hinteranger bus stop.
On foot from the Hinteranger bus stop:
Take the paved access road to house No. 509. This connects to the wide gravel path No. 28 leading to the Höllensteinhütte.
