The perfect route to start the hiking season! No matter what, the Kaisersäule is always at the destination: a large stone-built pillar from which you have a beautiful view of the Inn Valley and the surrounding mountain groups – even Emperor Franz I enjoyed this view!
The hike to the Kaisersäule from Thaur is uncomplicated and best signposted. You hike up from the village center through the mixed forest along the marked alpine path. At first, it is not too steep, but it gets steeper shortly before the Thaurer Alm. It is reached at 1461 meters altitude. Then you need another 30 minutes to reach the Kaisersäule at 1701 meters. In total, the round trip takes about 4 hours, with about 1000 meters of altitude to hike.
Bus 501 Thaur/center - approx. 30 minutes additional walking time to the starting point. If descending into the Halltal, you can return by bus 502.
