Arrival by public transport
Take the line 502/503 to the stop "Eichat Bettelwurfsiedlung", which is a 5-minute walk from the Halltal entrance.
The valleys that cut into the Karwendel are beautiful, but also long. You can see this for yourself on a hike through the Halltal valley to the Hallerangerhaus, which is located in the heart of the Karwendel Nature Park, at the foot of the limestone giants Speckkarspitze and Lafatscher.
This hiking tour is ideal for sure-footed endurance hikers who want to experience the Karwendel intensively. First, the route leads through the beautiful Halltal valley, either on a steep asphalt road or more beautifully on the parallel escape route. Passing the St. Magdalena refreshment stop and the manor houses, you reach the wonderfully scenic Kleidod Issanger. In general, the Halltal would be a charming hiking destination in itself, but there is more to come. The Lafatscherjoch is reached via a steep gravel path through mountain pine fields. Here the view of the main Karwendel chain opens up. And if what you have achieved so far wasn't already beautiful enough, the Hallerangerhaus is surrounded by the rocky outcrops of the Lafatscher and Speckkarspitze, as well as a small chapel, in a real dream location. An overnight stay is recommended. Return via the same route, or the equally beautiful and at least as far route through the Isar valley to Scharnitz. You can return to the starting point in Absam by public transport.
This route in the middle of the Karwendel Nature Park impresses with its contrasts. The rugged mountain slopes of the Halltal and the Halleranger meadows as the destination. The long-distance Munich - Venice trail also passes here.
