Hike to an idyllic alpine pasture in the Wattental valley
Important notice: The Außermelang lower alpine pasture is located in the restricted area of the Walchen military training area. During military exercises, the hiking trails must not be used; there is a risk to life.
The hike starts at the parking lot in front of the entrance to the Walchen military training area, which is accessible by car from Wattens. Directly at the camp, turn left from the state road onto a field path (Wattentaler Zirbenweg). The path goes past the Stieralm, then into the forest. After about one kilometer, turn left and follow the path to the Außermelang alpine pastures (lower and upper pasture). The return is on the same path as the way out.
