A varied ascent through shady forest and past the rustic Jausenstation Alpenrose Fellenberg, 1.389 m takes you all the way to the Ahorn cable car top station. Whether you hike back down or take the easy ride by cable car – this route is well worth it!
From the Ahornbahn bottom station (parking lot), you first follow the road towards Kumbichl. At the toll station Stillup, keep left and continue briefly on trail No. 514 towards Zillergund. After passing the last houses, you'll descend slightly and cross a small stream. On the right, the "Ernst-Spieß-Weg" trail marked with No. 42 begins, leading you steeply up through the forest in numerous switchbacks. Halfway through, you'll reach the picturesque Jausenstation Alpenrose Fellenberg,1.398 m. Continue along trail No. 42 until you reach a fork in the path. The hardest ascent is now behind you; keep right onto trail No. 514, which will take you at nearly the same elevation to the mountain station of the Ahornbahn. You can return either by the same route or conveniently take the Ahornbahn back to the bottom station.
