The Tiroler Höhenweg trail covers almost 12,000 metres in altitude and almost 160 kilometres from the rear Zillertal in Austria to Meran. With a few exceptions, this long-distance hiking trail lies at an altitude of between 1500 and just under 3000 metres. There are 13 stages, whereby one can ascend and descend at the Brenner Pass, in the Obernberger Tal, in the Pflerscher Tal, Ridnaun, in the Passeirer Timmelstal and in the Pfelderer Tal.

Those who want to walk the "Tiroler Höhenweg" should take a good 2 weeks. A very good mental and physical endurance and condition are a must! Some sections of the trail require absolute surefootedness and freedom from vertigo, as well as mountain experience. The refuges along the way should be booked in advance, so that the overnight stay is secured.
