Because of its proximity to Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol, this enjoyable ski tour is also popular with locals: From the valley station of the Muttereralmbahn in Mutters, specially groomed ski touring trails lead about 670 meters uphill to the ski area’s namesake: the Mutterer Alm.

Staying on the right side of the slope, the route passes the midway station and continues to the top station at 1,600 meters above sea level. There you’ll find the Mutterer Alm mountain restaurant, where you can take a culinary break. Although the tour’s destination isn’t too far away, the steep ascent still requires strength and stamina. If you’d like, you can also extend the tour to the top station of the Pfriemesköpfl chairlift at about 1,800 meters above sea level.
At the parking lot below the valley station of the Muttereralmbahn the signposting for the ski touring route starts. It first goes half-right past the valley station of the Mutteralm lift. The route continues along the slope until just above the middle station. Turn right into the old drag lift route and follow the signs to the top station of the Muttereralmbahn. The walking time is one and a half to two hours.
The ski slopes of the Muttereralm are only open for ski tourers at certain times!
The slopes can be accessed from Monday to Sunday from 9.00 am - 5.00 pm and Wednesday from 9.00 am - 10.00 pm on the designated ascent track.
