Varied running route through forests, moors and adventurous forest and root paths
This tour starts at the information office in St. Johann in Tirol. You walk along Kaiserstraße to the Großachenbrücke bridge and turn right into Gasteiger Straße. The Ache accompanies you quietly for a while. After the underpass, keep left and look out for the yellow hiking signs indicating the direction to the hermitage. Your path leads you through the hamlet of Bärnstetten and the path now climbs gently uphill. You reach the hermitage via a short, crisp field path and then a forest road. Behind the Einsiedelei pilgrimage chapel is a place of strength - treat yourself to a short breather and a wonderful view of St. Johann in Tirol and the surrounding mountains. Your next point is the Rummlerhof, which you reach via a varied field, forest and root path. Sure-footedness is particularly important on the fast-paced downhill section! Once you reach the end of the field path, take a short section of asphalt to get past the Rummlerhof to the Maurerhof. From there, you are led back onto a pleasantly soft forest path that leads through romantic forests and moors. The Römerweg trail takes you gently downhill back to “civilization” and after you reach the first settlements again, look out for the Blumbergweg trail and follow a narrow path along the Rettenbach stream to Innsbruckerstraße. You cross the road and continue your walk along the river until you reach the starting point again.
