Easy trail running loop from Leutasch in the Gaistal, passing Hämmermoosalm and Wangalm, with 520 meters of elevation gain and panoramic views of the surrounding mountain landscape.
Attention: The Wetterstein Hut remains closed until further notice.
Starting from the paid parking lot P2 or the Leutasch-Stupfer bus stop, cross the Leutascher Ache upstream. After about a kilometer, cross the bridge and follow the trail to Hämmermoosalm. Here, after 2.5 kilometers and 200 meters of elevation gain, you can take your first break.
From the hut, we follow the hiking trail to the Rotmoosalm/Wangalm. The trail, a rooty path, ascends gently and offers many runnable sections. After about 6.5 kilometers, we reach the unoperational Wettersteinhütte. From here, we descend on the forest road, and just before the parking lot, we return to the starting point via the hiking trail. A few meters above the Wettersteinhütte lies the Wangalm, which invites you to stop for a break.
Ambitious downhillers can take the forest path from the Wettersteinhütte, which, however, offers fewer enjoyable running sections.
The stated running time is a guideline and depends on personal fitness.
Take the bus to Leutasch and get off at the 'Gaistal/Stupfer' bus stop.
