Description

The cozy Hämmermoosalm (1,417m) is beautifully situated at the beginning of the Gaistal, operates year-round, and is easily accessible for families. You can reach the hut via a wide gravel path (a sledding track in winter) or the bike-free - but slightly steeper - Ganghoferweg.

Alpine breakfast in summer:
Every Saturday and Sunday from 09:00 to 12:00, there is an Alm-brunch for € 35,- per person – reservation required (via email or phone).

At the hut, four different guest rooms offer plenty of space to enjoy, and private celebrations can also be arranged upon request. During the summer months, however, one naturally sits on the spacious sun terrace, admiring the mountain panorama under the shade of large umbrellas.

In summer, from May to October, numerous hikes and bike tours attract visitors to the picturesque Wetterstein mountain range, but children can also find plenty of exciting adventures at the Alm playground around the hut. E-bikes can be charged at the hut, but you must bring your own charger.

To this day, Hämmermoosalm operates as an active alpine farm - special consideration must be given to grazing livestock. During the winter season, from December to March, there is also a family-friendly natural toboggan run from the hut down to the valley.

POINT OF DEPARTURE
The Hämmermoosalm is easily and quickly accessible via different paths: By car from the Salzbach parking area in Gaistal, or if arriving by public transport, the hike begins at the bus stop "Leutasch Salzbach". Adventurers and connoisseurs can also conveniently reach the hut by horse-drawn carriage.

SUMMER TOURS

  • Family-friendly hike & bike tour to the hut. The hut is reachable from the Salzbach parking lot in Gaistal via the marked forest path in less than an hour. The somewhat steeper incline can also be navigated with a stroller, and e-bikers can reach Hämmermoosalm in about 15 minutes. Alternatively, the historic Ganghofersteig leads from the parking lot to the alpine hut in around 40 minutes. There are lockable, shelter, and charging options for e-bikes available at the top, but you must bring your own charger.

  • Alm loop trail. The medium difficulty loop hike takes approximately four hours and leads past picturesque viewpoints for ten kilometers and three alpine huts through the scenic Wetterstein mountain range. From the paid parking lot Stupfer in Leutascher Gaistal, the trail is well-marked and initially steeply ascends for 400 meters until reaching a comfortable forest road, which continues to follow along to Wettersteinhütte (1,717m) and on to Wangalm (1,751m). From Wettersteinhütte, the route goes over the "Wurziger Steig" to the rustic Hämmermoosalm (1,417m) for a stop. After a well-deserved refreshment, one returns to the Stupfer parking lot in Gaistal.

  • Ganghoferweg Leutasch. The famous Ganghoferweg leads in Gaistal from the Salzbach parking lot for nine kilometers, comfortably passing through the Hämmermoos and Gaistalalm up to Tillfussalm (1,382m). Since the descent takes the same route back, you can already think about where to take a break on the return trip - there are plenty of delicious opportunities on this approximately three-hour pleasure hike.

WINTER TOURS

  • Winter hiking trail. The short and family-friendly winter walk can be taken either from the information booth at the entrance to Gaistal along the Leutascher Ache river to the signpost for Hämmermoosalm or from the last (paid) hiking parking lot at Salzbach (P5) directly to the hut ascent. The path can also be tobogganed down, so if you like, you can bring your sled along.
    To the hike
  • Sledding. During the heavily snowy winter months, toboggan enthusiasts can reach the picturesque Hämmermoosalm on wide, cleared paths directly from the Salzbach parking area. The two-kilometer descent is freshly groomed in the morning after new snow, guaranteeing optimal conditions for toboggan enthusiasts of all ages.
