Description
The Wangalm in Gaistal below the Gehrenspitze enchants with original coziness and an authentic mountain hut at 1,753 meters above sea level. From early June to mid-October, there are cool refreshments available for hikers and (e-)bikers on the sun terrace or in the wood-paneled guest room.
OVERNIGHT STAY
After prior registration at +43 699 12212227, the Wangalm offers 4 rooms with a total of 20 beds.
STARTING POINT
From the paid parking lot Stupfer or the bus stop Leutasch Salzbach/Gaistal, the charming alpine hut can be reached either via steep trails and forest roads on foot or through a newly designed bike route that is physically demanding with the (e-)bike.
SUMMER TOURS
- Almen circular hike. Moderately difficult circular hike in the Wetterstein Mountains. Short, steep ascent from the parking lot Stupfer to the forest road, then leisurely to the Wangalm. A bit below the Wangalm (at the former Wettersteinhütte), continue over the “Wurziger Steig” to the Hämmermoosalm and from there downhill.
To the hike
- Biking tour Wangalm. Short and exhausting biking tour from the parking lot Stupfer in Gaistal over wide gravel paths just below the Wangalm. The last hundred steep meters to the hut are better done on foot, as the path becomes gravelly and poorly passable. After about twenty minutes of strenuous walking time, one reaches the Wangalm.
To the biking tour
- High alpine hike. Extensive hike over a total of five beautiful alms in the Wetterstein Mountains. With a pure walking time of about seven hours, it is challenging but rewarding; along the way, it is possible to descend early at key points. From the parking lot Stupfer via the Wangalm, Rotmoosalm, the Steinerne Hüttl, the Gaistalalm to the Tillfußalm and then relaxingly back to the starting point via the famous Ganghoferweg.
To the hike
- Gehrenspitze. Moderately difficult summit tour from Leutasch through the Puittal and over the Scharnitzjoch to the Gehrenspitze (2,367m). Descent via the Wangalm into Gaistal or back along the same route to Leutasch.
