Description

The winter hiking trail starts at parking lot 5 of the ski lift in Trins or a little further into the valley at the football pitch parking lot. From there, the trail runs along the valley floor of the Gschnitztal, partly along the Gschnitzbach stream, through snow-covered meadows. After approx. 1 hour's walk, you reach the rustic and cozy "Pumafalle" refreshment stop. From here, the trail climbs gently through a small section of forest before crossing to the other side of the stream at the entrance to Gschnitz. The trail then continues on level ground for around half an hour through a sparse forest until you reach the protective dam behind Gasthof Alpenrose, where the winter hiking trail ends. It is possible to continue to the end of the valley on the little-used country road. There is a ski bus stop at Gasthof Alpenrose, from where you can take the bus back to Trins.
