Description

The winter hiking trail starts at the ski lift car park in Trins or a little further into the valley at the football pitch car park. From there, the trail runs along the valley floor of the Gschnitztal, partly along the Gschnitzbach stream, through snow-covered meadows. After about 1 hour's walk, you reach the rustic and cosy "Pumafalle" refreshment stop. From here, the trail climbs slightly through a small section of forest before changing to the other side of the stream at the entrance to Gschnitz. The trail then continues on level ground for about half an hour through a sparse forest until you reach the protective dam behind the Alpenrose inn, where the winter hiking trail ends. A further hike to the end of the valley is possible on the little-used country road. There is a ski bus stop at Gasthof Alpenrose, from where you can take the ski bus back to Trins. Winter hikers with a guest card travel free of charge on the ski bus.
