To be honest, a "cold inn" doesn't sound all that inviting. But it doesn't have to—after all, it's a small pilgrimage church in an idyllic forest clearing. It gets cozy, though, at the Olpererblick Inn!
A moderately difficult winter hike through quiet forest sections and open winter landscapes in the Schmirntal valley, with views of the surrounding Zillertal Alps. Enjoy a leisurely stop at the Olpererblick inn. Optionally, you can take the bus back from Toldern.
From the Muchnersiedlung car park, first cross the small settlement area and walk uphill along the forest path into the valley. After about an hour's walk, you leave the forest and hike about 300m through the "Holzeben" woodland area. Afterwards, the trail continues in the forest again with a slight incline to the "Kalte Herberge" pilgrimage church, which is located in an idyllic clearing. There are Stations of the Cross with metal plaques on natural stones along this section of the trail. The trail then descends through the forest into the Wildlahnertal valley and from there out of the valley to Toldern, where the Gasthof Olpererblick invites you to stop for a bite to eat. The route can also be hiked in reverse order, in which case there is free parking at the Wildlahnertal car park and a stop for refreshments at the Schmirner Stadl in Muchnersiedlung.
