Trail condition

The winter hiking trails are specially marked as premium winter hiking trails with pink signposts. All trails are cleared of snow in winter and well maintained so that they are easily accessible. Only the Premium Winter Hiking Trails are closed in case of danger (ice), for all others it is at your own risk. Since your safety is important to us, you can rent free of charge (deposit € 40,-) Grödel and hiking sticks in the information offices Trins and Steinach. With these, even icy spots are no problem. Sometimes the winter hiking trails intersect with toboggan runs, where the hike can be combined with a toboggan run.The "old Serles Cross" stands 500 m below the car park at Maria Waldrast on a hill and was consecrated in honour of former Bishop Reinhold Stecher.

Description

Start at the entrance to the cross-country ski trail (please do not step into the track), which runs parallel to the winter hiking trail. From here, slightly hilly across the Mähder towards Schön Anger (approx. 3 km). The trail continues along the cross-country ski trail in the direction of Schönberg / Mieders (2 km). Now hike slightly uphill via the Miederer Ochsenhütte hut towards Maria Waldrast (3 km). The destination of this unique winter hike around the Waldraster Jöchl is the Servite monastery with the Maria Waldrast monastery inn, which invites you to take a break.
