Winter hike Short Steinberg loop

A scenic, sunny winter hike with some forest sections, passing the Rofanlift 1 on the way to the cross-country skiing centre. The circular route takes approx. 1 hour with an elevation gain of around 125 metres.

Description

Start at the parish church in Steinberg. Pass the Dorfhaus and turn right above the Messnerhof farm onto the signposted winter hiking trail toward the cross-country skiing centre. Follow the groomed trail over hilly terrain, passing the Rofanlift 1 ski lift. The path leads down a meadow slope and through a short stretch of forest, with Hotel Das Steinberg visible in the distance to your right. After crossing the bridge, keep right. The path runs alongside the cross-country ski trail, passes behind the festival hall, and continues to the cross-country skiing centre. To return, pass the festival hall again - starting on asphalt, then transitioning to a slightly ascending forest road. Keep left at the next junction and continue through the woods. Pass the municipal building yard, then turn left at the Rofanlifte 2 car park toward the Silberwaldhütte. Shortly before the hut, keep right and follow the groomed winter hiking trail back to the starting point at the parish church.
