The small village of Heiterwang is situated close to the Heiterwanger See lake and has a special charm thanks to its beautiful mountain landscape and unspoilt landscape.
Home to fewer than 500 inhabitants, Heiterwang lies in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. On hot summer days the Heiterwanger See lake is a popular meeting point for boating, swimming, diving and fishing, while those who enjoy exploring the mountains can do so using the network of hiking, running and Nordic walking trails. In winter there are a number of snowsure cross-country skiing trails. It is also just a short drive to the nearby ski resorts. Snowshoe hikes are possible in the landscape around Heiterwang.
Tip! Nearby Reutte is home to the highline179, at 406 metres in length the longest hanging footbridge in the world. It connects the Ehrenberg ruins with Fort Claudia and is 115 metres above the ground at its highest point.
