Hinterhornbach lies in the Hornbachtal Valley, a side valley of the Lechtal Valley. It is surrounded by an unspoilt landscape and majestic mountains, making this small village in the west of Tirol well worth a visit.
The small municipality of Hinterhornbach lies near the town of Reutte at 1,100 metres above sea level and is home to around 90 inhabitants. Nature lovers in search of peace and quiet are drawn to this secluded village with its large network of hiking trails, including smuggling trails leading over the Allgäu Alps and across the border into Germany. With a little luck you might even see some chamois and ibex in their natural habitat. An easy walk popular with families leads to the Petersberg Alm hut, which serves delicious homemade food. In winter there are a number of winter hiking trails and cross-country skiing trails.
