Skiing in Kaunertal

The remote Kaunertal Valley offers skiers plenty of peace and quiet combined with the benefits of a snowsure glacier. The slopes here cater for beginners, intermediate skiers and experts alike.

The landscape in the Kaunertal Valley is spectacular, dominated by eternal glacier ice, mighty mountains over 3,000 metres high and plenty of natural snow throughout the season. At the end of the valley, which branches off the Upper Inn Valley and runs south-east, is the Ochsenalmbahn cable car giving access to the ski slopes on the Kaunertal Glacier. The highest pistes here on the Weißseeferner glacier, as it is known, are above the magic 3,000-metre mark. Despite this, there is plenty of easy skiing for beginners. Famileis will enjoy the quiet practice area with gentle gradients, while advanced and expert skiers should head for the snowpark with its kickers and rails. It is just a 45-minute drive from Kaunertal to the resorts of Fendels and Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. There, as well as on the glacier, you will find ski schools with experienced instructors.
