Leisach, a municipality of just 800 residents in the Lienz district, is the best proof that good things come in small packages.
What Leisach lacks in size, it more than makes up for in scenery. This quiet village near Lienz in East Tirol is surrounded by meadows, fields, forests and high mountains – not least the mighty 2,718m Spitzkofel, known as the "secret ruler of the Lienz Dolomites". Leisach has plenty to offer walkers and hikers, while those wishing to relax can visit the Freizeitzentrum Leisach with its swimming pool, football pitch and ice rink. Further highlights in the surrounding region include the Lienzer Klause fortress, whose walls are witnesses to Tirol's rich and turbulent history.
