Ranggen in the district of Telfs is divided into three settlements: Außerdorf, Oberdorf and Unterdorf. All three lie on a sunny plateau at an altitude of 826 metres overlooking the Inntal Valley.
As well as these three settlements there are a number of pretty hamlets and smaller collections of houses. The village has managed to maintain its traditional rural charm despite the fact that it is just 18 kilometres from the regional capital Innsbruck. One of the most popular ways of getting to Ranggen is a 5km bike ride climbing around 200 vertical metres from the Inn Valley. The local mountains is the 1,939m Rangger Köpfl, which is an excellent base for many activities in both summer and winter. Highlights include one of the longest and most spectacular toboggan runs in Tirol: 8km in length and 950 vertical metres of descent from top to bottom.
