Sistrans

Sistrans is a municipality to the south of Innsbruck overlooking the Inntal Valley from its raised position at 919 metres above sea level.

The village, which is home to many families, has managed to maintain its traditional rural charm despite its growing to over 2,000 in recent decades. It is surrounded on all sides by lush meadows criss-crossed by walking and running trails which are used for cross-country skiing in winter. The famous "Speckbacherweg" trail connecting the villages on this sunny plateau to the south of Innsbruck passes through Sistrans and leads up to the Sistranser Alm hut. The walk takes around 1.5 hours and offers great views. A good place to cool off after the hike is the Lanser See lake. In winter there is a free shuttle bus service from Sistrans to the ski resorts on the Patscherkofel mountain and in the Stubaital Valley. The region also has a toboggan run and an ice rink. Innsbruck with its many shops, museums and sights is just 7 kilometres from Sistrans.
