The quiet municipality of St. Jakob in Haus lies in a sunny location at the southern end of the Pillerseetal Valley.
With just 770 inhabitants, it has the smallest population of any municipality in the district of Kitzbühel. Its position at an altitude of 885 m in the Loferer Rocky Mountains makes it the ideal place for relaxing holidays in beautiful natural surroundings. In summer, the main attraction is the Familienland adventure park featuring Austria’s largest family-friendly rollercoaster, an indoor climbing wall, an aeroplane carousel, a raft run and a relaxing salt grotto. The region also offers several long hikes, including one up to the Buchensteinwand mountain capped with an awe-inspiring wooden cross 30 m in height which visitors can climb up to enjoy tremendous views of the valley below. After all that action, why not cool off with a dip in the swimming lake in Waidring or the emerald-green water of Lake Pillersee. In winter the cable cars of the family-friendly ski resort Pillersee-Hochfilzen/Buchensteinwand is so close that most guests can walk there from their accommodation. Children and beginners can practise their turns in the Bobo Park, Tirol’s largest children’s ski area.
