Its panoramic views and peaceful location at the entrance to the Wattener Lizum make the mountain village of Wattenberg in the Lower Inntal Valley a popular holiday destination.
The small municipality of Wattenberg is home to around 700 inhabitants living in houses dotted across the steep slopes of the Wattental Valley. Hikers and mountainbikers often escape to this cool valley on hot summer days to explore the trails leading through the thick forests and up to the impressive summits high above. The many traditional farmhouses serve as a reminder of the time when the locals in Wattenberg living off farming and panning for iron and copper in the nearby streams.
Just a short drive from Wattenberg are the famous Swarovski Crystal Worlds in neighbouring Wattens. Visitors from around the world come to see the glistening Chambers of Wonder and beautifully crafted garden watched over by the water-spewing green giant. Hall in Tirol is also well worth a visit with its pretty oldtown and Münzturm museum.
