Wattens

Wattens is one of 20 market municipalities in Tirol and lies in the Lower Inntal Valley to the south of the Inn river. The internationally famous yet still family-run company Swarovski has shaped the development of this town and made it well-known beyond the borders of Tirol and Austria.

The Swarovski Crystal Worlds with their glittering Chambers of Wonder and beautiful gardens have been enchanting international visitors to Wattens for decades. Other museusms well worth a visit include the typewriter museum (the only one of its kind in Austria) with more than 450 fully working typewriters, some of which are more than 125 years old. The museum also provides an interesting insight into how this most essential of writing devices has developed throughout its history.

Sports enthusiasts and nature lovers will find plenty to see and do in and around Wattens. The popular Inn Cycle Path, for example, skirts the town. There are also plenty of hiking trails leading up into the mountains and offering fabulous views of the Inntal Valley. In winter there are a number of ski resorts nearby with perfectly prepared pistes. Nearby Hall in Tirol with its medieval oldtown is well worth a visit, while the regional capital Innsbruck is only 20 minutes away and has a huge number of things going on in both summer and winter.
