Family ski holidays in Pitztal Valley

Young children taking their first tentative steps on snow will enjoy the quiet slopes of the Hochzeiger ski resort. There are also plenty of attractions and activities away from the slopes for non-skiing parents.

The infrastructure in the sunny Hochzeiger ski resort is perfect for families. The resort itself is compact and the ski school, rental shops and pistes are all close together. Children will learn to ski on the gentle slopes down in the valley, where they do not need a lift pass. Older and more experienced skiers can head for the snowpark to practise their tricks, while Pitzi's Kinderparadies is a childcare facility with trained members of staff. Parents and grandparents who do not want to ski themselves should nevertheless head up to the top of the cable car, where they can admire the fabulous views, enjoy coffee and cake at the restaurant, explore the winter hiking trail or try the 6km toboggan run which the children will definitely want to have a go on later.

There is plenty to see and do away from the slopes. How about a ride in a real piste-grooming machine and a backstage tour of what goes on behind the scenes at the resort? Other popular activities include hikes through the forest to a 12-metre-high pinewood tower offering fabulous views.

CHILDREN's SKI SCHOOL. Children as young as three years of age are welcome to take part in ski courses at the Skischule Pitztal in Jerzens. Professional instructors are on hand to teach the kids the basics of skiing on snow while ensuring there are plenty of breaks and, of course, lots of other fun activities. Older children and teenagers can learn more advanced techniques such as parallel turns and carving while they explore the resort's more challenging runs. In the afternoon there is the chance to relax with an activity programme. The resort also has its own kindergarden with lots of colourful surprises.
