If this quaint old house could talk, oh what stories would it tell! Home to one of Inner Zillertal Valley’s earliest mountain farm settlers, The Old House is a lovingly renovated 600-year-old farmhouse where history is alive. Restored to reflect life in time long past, it was home to generations of mountain farmer families and has weathered the centuries, the Thirty Years’ War and the Little Ice Age. The interior of the farmhouse provides a vivid perspective on the life of mountain famers. Today, Altes Jöchlhaus specializes in the art, culture and history of the Alps and its development over time. The Altes Jöchlhaus Historical Society strives to provide ongoing opportunities for visitors to immerse themselves in the rich and diverse 10,000-year history of the region. The quaint attic named “Zirbennest” (‘stone pine nest’) under the shingle roof brings together for mutual enrichment people who are interested in discovering the heritage of Tuxer Tal Valley through lectures, workshops and seminars. Experience history in a new way!
