Kühtai High Alpine Road

Kühtai

The Kühtai High Alpine Road winds its way from Oetz in the Ötztal Valley all the way up to Kühtai, a small village and ski resort at 2,020 metres above sea level. En route you will find plenty of good reasons to stop and get out, including the pretty Längental reservoir – the perfect place to stretch your legs with a walk around the water. There is also a second road leading from the valley up to Kühtai. This one begins in Kematen just outside Innsbruck and is 25 kilometres long, passing through the villages of Sellrain, Gries and St. Sigmund. Both roads remain open all year round and are accessible free of charge. The road from Kematen is also popular with road bikers, though you will need good fitness to make it all the way to Kühtai. Once up at the top, there are plenty of walking and hiking trails in the mountains. The DreiSeenBahn cable car offers a quicker and easier way to enjoy the scenery.
