Lavant Archaeological Collections

Lavant

Located close to East Tirol’s capital Lienz and to the Roman Town of Aguntum, archaeologists have been uncovering evidence of Celtic temple buildings on Kirchbichl Hill in Lavant since 1948. The Museums Resource Centre, which was erected in the basement of the funeral hall on foot of Kirchbichl Hill in 1996, is the principal store for all archaeological finds excavated or studied in Lavant. When visiting the archaeological collections, you are strongly recommended to take a stroll around the nearby excavations at the Aguntum archaeological site. The repository for all archaeological finds excavated in Lavant is the Museum of Archaeology at Bruck Castle in Lienz.
