The Obertreichl Herb Garden is a captivating place to visit. It houses over 130 plant varieties of herbs. The rich and colorful history of herbs comes alive to the visitors as they enjoy and learn about the many uses of herbs, both past and present. The herbs are uniquely arranged in beds. A special bed grows 35 plants and herbs that are used for tea, among them goldenrod, anise-hyssop, lady’s mantle, lemon verbena and agrimony. Herbal teas have been consumed for centuries, whether for enjoyment or as treatment for practically every illness or disease that has ever existed. From refreshing to soothing, teas can offer an all-natural "pick-me-up" or can completely relax the mind and body. Since 1992, the Herb Garden has been maintained using organic principles, no pesticides or herbicides. Many of our herbs and teas are available to buy. Guided tours are available by appointment.
