The Obergurgl Stone Pine Forest, a natural sight, covers over 20 hectares of the Ötztal Nature Park territory. This large wild area of ancient woodland is dotted by centuries-old stone pines, some of which are over 300 years old, and with great fields of Alpine roses, a high moor and rushing waterfalls. There is a well-marked 2.1-kilometer long nature trail which leads around most of the reserve. 13 trailside information signs describe local flora and fauna and make this a very memorable walk. Take in that lovely pine scent as you walk along these fragrant branches! Afterwards, refuel with snacks and drinks at Hohe Mut Alm On-Mountain Restaurant. Grab a deckchair from the ample outdoor patio and take in the incredible vistas of 21 "Three-Thousanders", high altitude peaks averaging 3,000 meters in elevation. The on-mountain restaurant is trailhead for a variety of rewarding walks and hikes.
