The annual Ebbs Koasa March marks the highlight for avid walkers and runners in Tirol Unterland Region: There are three trail run routes and four different courses for hikers to choose from.
Zahmer Kaiser, Wilder Kaiser and pristine Kaisertal Valley will play host to the popular Koasa March on June 17, 2023, which is now in its 53rd year. There are seven different events for athletes of all tastes and abilities. Kick-off for the hikers is 6:00am at the schoolyard of the primary and secondary school in Ebbs, where all events have their finish line, too, at 6:00pm.
Walkers can choose between four different courses, like the challenging 32K route along Vorderkaiserfelden Hut, Hochalm Alpine Pasture and Hinterbärenbad with an elevation gain of 1,770 vertical meters. For the less energetic and for families, there are easy family walks and a 11K valley loop walk around Ebbs.
More demanding are the three trail runs on offer, such as the “Koasa Marathon”, an extreme 44K trail run leading up to Stripsenjochhaus Lodge (elev. 1,580m) with a nasty 2,100 vertical meters. The Koasa Marathon and the 20K “Höllenritt” Half Marathon are part of the Austria Trail Running Association (ASTA), which means that these two events qualify for the Austria Trail Running Championships.
